Il grande compositore Nick Drake è
stato ricordato negli ultimi anni con uno spettacolo tributo itinerante
chiamato "The Songs of Nick Drake".
Ricordiamo oggi The Songs Of Nick Drake - Toronto, November 18th, 2012,
un concerto tributo al compianto cantautore britannico Nick Drake.
Lo spettacolo presentava una formazione di musicisti che eseguivano le canzoni di Drake, con la partecipazione di un quartetto d'archi che proponeva gli arrangiamenti di Robert Kirby, da lui adottati per gli album di Drake.
Il concerto registrò il tutto esaurito e ricevette recensioni positive dalla critica. Il "Toronto Star" lo definì "un bellissimo e commovente tributo a un grande artista", mentre "Exclaim!" affermò che la manifestazione rappresenta "un must per i fan di Nick Drake".
L’evento è stato registrato e
pubblicato in DVD e CD nel 2013 ed è un prezioso documento che omaggia un
artista molto amato, una registrazione che piacerà ai fan di Nick Drake, vecchi
e futuri, sempre più numerosi.
Gli arrangiamenti visti nel video
spaziano da sezioni di archi complete a numeri rock diretti a interpretazioni
acustiche ridotte.
Il documento si può considerare uno
spettacolo vario con molti cantanti, ma il filo conduttore è rappresentato dalle canzoni di Nick Drake.
